News and Services

CLS Celebrates Pride Month!

In late June of 1969, members of the LGBTQIA community protested police for raiding Stonewall, a bar known to and for the LGBTQIA community. Although raids of bars were common back then, this one escalated and turned into riots. The people from the Greenwich Village neighborhood of lower Manhattan used this time to organize and demanded the right to live openly regarding their sexual orientation and identities. Others from across the U.S. started to organize in the fight for equality. A year later, the first pride marches took place in the U.S. in New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago.

June is LGBTQIA pride month and Colorado Legal Services wants to voice its support for the fight towards equality. We stand strong with you, especially at a time when it seems like hate is trying to destroy the progress we made. Don’t waiver in pride and join the many celebrations taking place this month throughout the U.S. to show love and support for all.

How does CLS work?

CLS is a non-profit providing, if eligible, free legal advice, clinics and representation to low-income Coloradans and seniors. CLS has an intake process that all applicants must complete. We aren't a hotline you can call for quick guidance without first being screened. Please understand that, unlike criminal cases, there's no right to an attorney in civil cases. We do our best to provide legal help to as many eligible applicants as we can with the resources available to us.
