Statement about Colorado Springs Shooting and Contact Information

Colorado Legal Services (CLS) is broken-hearted over the November 19th shooting at Club Q in Colorado Springs. Club Q has served as a welcoming, safe, and celebratory space for the LGBTQIA+ community for over two decades. The horrific shooting has left at least 5 dead and 25 injured. We grieve with those whose loved ones were killed or injured and are suffering devastating, unimaginable loss.

CLS stands with its LGBTQIA+ staff, clients, and community members in Colorado Springs and throughout the state and nation during this time of pain and outrage. Spaces that should be safe are being terrorized by purveyors of hate. The current patterns of violence cannot make us numb or paralyzed. We must continue to fight for the right of every human being to love who they wish and to live a full life of joy, safety, and freedom.

CLS has established an emergency hotline for anyone impacted by this terrible event. CLS offers free legal services to any eligible low-income person or senior affected by the shooting who may need civil legal advice, representation, or appropriate referral. Please call our hotline at (719) 433-8526 during business hours: Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

How does CLS work?

CLS is a non-profit providing, if eligible, free legal advice, clinics and representation to low-income Coloradans and seniors. CLS has an intake process that all applicants must complete. We aren't a hotline you can call for quick guidance without first being screened. Please understand that, unlike criminal cases, there's no right to an attorney in civil cases. We do our best to provide legal help to as many eligible applicants as we can with the resources available to us.
