Attorneys Needed

Colorado Legal Services seeks hard-working, compassionate, tech-savvy attorneys to represent low-income clients in several specialty areas (Domestic, Government-issued IDs, and Migrant) in its Denver office; CLS staff are currently working remotely.  CLS attorney salary scale is $53,000 – $92,200 based on experience, with great benefits.  Successful candidates will show experience working w/vulnerable people. Casehandler Paralegal, Health and Elder Law Unit

Under the direction of the Supervising Attorney, the paralegal will be responsible for some or all of the following duties: (1) Handle a full caseload which requires investigation, negotiation, legal research, and administrative representation; (2) Preparation of clients for administrative proceedings and responsiveness to requests for assistance from the clients, often of an emergency nature; (3) Work closely with unit members to devise case strategies, conduct discovery, develop new methods for handling cases, develop new methods for handling the clients’ legal problems, and generally be of assistance to ensure high quality legal representation of program clients; (4) Be organized, responsible, and able to independently maintain documentation for all cases; (5) Provide appropriate counseling and crisis intervention for program clients; (6) Assist in the preparation and conducting of community education and community outreach programs; and (7) Adhere to expectations for grant reporting and grant management, under the direction of the Supervising Attorney.  

CLS is a non-profit organization which provides free legal services to low-income individuals and seniors throughout Colorado.  This position will be based in Denver and will provide legal assistance to individuals in public benefits matters pending before administrative agencies.  Interested persons should send a resume and cover letter describing experience and commitment to working with low-income individuals to Director of Advocacy, Reenie Terjak by 10/16/2020. 

Attorney Needed (1 in Grand Junction, 2 in Pueblo, CO)

CLS has a position open for an attorney in its Grand Junction office, and two positions open for attorneys in its Pueblo office to represent low-income clients in civil cases. The salary range, based on union scale and experience, begins at $53,000. CLS offers excellent benefits. This is an opportunity to work with other like-minded individuals and gain training and litigation experience.  The successful candidates will handle a fast moving, high volume litigation caseload. Sensitivity to the legal needs of low-income individuals and minorities is required; current CO law license is required.
